Digital Citizenship

Engagement for Public Good

There is enormous potential to support new forms of open and blended government when citizens are effectively engaged with urban data streams. Some elements of this potential relate to the ‘downloading’ of responsibility into community as the capacity of city and regional governments continues to wane, but most anticipate new levels of public partnership in governance enabled by data-driven digital democracy.

It is important for Urban Opus, as it seeks to earn the trust that is central to its mission, to demonstrate how passive and active digital citizenship can generate public good.  Projects currently in our development portfolio illustrate a spectrum of engagement scenarios from passive participation to purposeful philanthropy.
